Health Insurance: Is it important?

May 1 is memorable date to me. That day is a labor’s day, Sto Niño image’s making, lumad’s night and my mom’s rest day. I called it as my mom’s rest day because she was confined at South General Hospital. She was complaining about her stomach which is aching very hard. Upon admission, the hospital was asking an insurance card. I presented it and called the insurance provider for my mom’s loa. My mom underwent some type of tests such as urine, stool, ECG, sugar, x-ray and ultrasound. The doctor advises her not to eat anything. She was just given a dextrose and medicine to suppress her appetite.

Last Monday, I visited her again. I brought her Phil health receipts and medical data record. I found it out that for just two days; her bill reached almost Php 28 thousand. The medicines are really expensive. If we don’t have cheap health insurance, I will be worrying this amount. Where could we get this money?

Yesterday, I monitored if the loa was given by the health provider. The billing in charge said, it was just arrived. The health provider offers Php 85 thousand to my mom’s hospitalization.

Finally, my mom went out from the hospital this afternoon. Her bill reached at Php 39,648 but because of the health insurance, she just pays Php 108.00. How does it sound?  What about you? Do you have cheap health insurance?
