My new found skill

Every since I was kid, I used to love drawing. I remember my favorite subjects are house and Victorian dress.

Kids before loves to draw this for this is dream dress they wanted to wear unlike now a day, it is sexier and lesser clothes.

In high school, I was influence to engage in abstract design. One of my classmates is good in tattooing. He only uses a ball pen and started his masterpieces in the hands of my classmates. He then put a talc powder to eliminate the glossy effect of ball pen. The finish work looks like a real tattoo. Since then, I started liking it and follow. I have had been doing it until now that I am a teacher, however the some of the medium has changed. I’m no longer doing it in the hands nor in any parts of the body but I do it in the paper. Sad to say, I didn’t have a sketch pad for this. Whenever I got bored, I started doing abstract designs whatever paper I am holding. Guess, I finally realize it now, when I am writing this. I will buy a sketch pad and start my masterpieces.

During college days, I also remember I got a flat 1.0 in Art and Humanities. One of the things that we had drawn was sketching a human face. My subject was Abby Beduya or also known as Priscilla Almeda.

Of course, this is not my sketch. I lost the copy of it. Sayang! I would have been scan it and post it here. Nevertheless, good thing there are photos that are accessible in the internet.

But now, it was changed. I seldom draw for I used to write lesson plan and compute grades.  Sometimes I just do the abstract designing whenever I got bored.

For today, I found a new skill which I am happy for it. What I am up to? I am up to banner/badge/button/logo and header designing using adobe Photoshop CS3. Designing into a next level is one of the achievements that I had. My husband is a web designer and programmer. I just don’t like to rely all the things I’d like in all my blogs. I started to learn this Photoshop when I wanted to have a badge but he was busy then to make it for me. So, I started to explore.

Our new theme of Buhat sa Tambay

I would like to say that I am so proud of my husband, Ryan Pet. He is the one who made this  new theme.  Actually, he is the one who designs everything in here from the start that we made this website. He is a programmer and web developer.

He started making a design since last week and able to run it yesterday. Obviously I didn’t know how his job being done. I asked him about the process in making this theme. Here is a simple instruction about it.

1. He started to come up with a placement through sketching. He asked me on what were the things that we will put in this site. So, we came up with latest blog, review,mapeh and a portion for our baby, which we called as babycoy.
2. From sketch, he laid it out in photoshop. He sliced possible images to use like background image.
3. After having all the layout using photoshop, he transform into html and css using dreamweaver.
4. Then he added some php code base on wordpress template structure.

Quite easy right? But it isn’t. I asked him which of these processes took him so long in doing such design. He said, “the layout, for you will have to think its possible placement that should be flexible in using the wordpress”. In this theme, he created personalize 3 column wordpress theme which is widgets ready. For our previous theme, we used to have one column only. All in all, he finished it about 6 days.

Web designing is not easy. The only consolation that web developer could receive is well compensation. However, in our country (Philippines) we didn’t give much recognition to the web developer. Though there are some receives good salary but other don’t. Like my husband, the only thing I could give him is my kiss and hugs. lol!
