Fire Burning

I woke up this early morning for my baby Chloe cries a lot. She cries a lot due to trouble stomach. After she defecate, she was relieved and she’s back into her sleep. I didn’t sleep at all. What I did, I open my computer and check my blogs.

Quarter to 4 a.m, I cook for our breakfast. As I went out  going to the back portion of our rented house, I notice a huge fire burning somewhere V.Rama, Englis or perhaps Mango. I am not certain to the location of the fire. It just so happen that we lived at the 4th floor area so I could see it. It has been almost 30 minutes since I noticed that fire but still it wasn’t resolve yet.

I just prayed that nobody get hurt. I know that being a victim of fire will not be easy. A great lost of valuable things and abode are hard to find and acquire again. It will took sometime before you can recover. However, the only best thing to save is our lives for we have only live once. Materials things can be found if you will just work for it.

I am just hoping that no student of our who will be affected by this fire. :(

Miss Venezuela Rules!!!

Miss Venezuela,Stefania Fernandez won the 2009 Miss Universe pageant in the Bahamas on Sunday night. The pageant was aired here in the Philippines this morning around 9;30 a.m  live telecast by ABS-CBN,one of the biggest television network companies. Honestly, I wasn’t able to watch it live for I am so much engrossed in taking care my baby Chloe. I forgot to turn on the television. Thus, I really missed the whole details. Around 11:30 m, I remember about the Miss Universe, that was the time that I turned the television on. Sad to say that the pageant was over.  I just knew the winner through news in yahoo.

Last year’s Miss Universe, Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela handed the crown. Venezuelan beauties really dominated this highly respected pageant in the of 1979, 1981, 1986, 1996, 2008, 2009.

Goodbye Madam Cory Aquino

She was just a plain housewife before she became the first female president of the Philippines and was Asia’s first female president. I was six years old then when the Edsa Revolution arisen. I remembered when I bought junk foods, there was a sticker with a heart the design with text imprinted “PEOPLE POWER”.  I am talking with the person named Cory Aquino. Everybody knows that our beloved former president Cory Aquino passed away last 1 August 2009, at 3:18 a.m due to her colon cancer.

She has been battling this cancer since last year. Filipinos doesn’t forget to offer a healing prayer for her recovery. I am one of those millions of people who prayed for her. Her son, Noynoy Aquino attended SK Congress last October 28-30, 2008 at Waterfront Hotel at Lahug, Cebu City. It also happens that our group, Lumad Basakanon was one of the performers at that time. The group dance Sinulog. I am one of the dancers then. Upon, performing, I saw Noynoy Aquino so I offered my dance for the recovery of her mother. Consequently, her life was stretched for almost one year.

Last Monday, when her body was moved to Manila Cathedral, many people waited, cried and raised their hand as laban sign honoring the most benevolent and courageous president at all time. I had a goose bumps looking at the people crying who flocked from different parts of the country just to witness the coffin of the president. It is true that the essence of EDSA REVOLUTION is live on that very moment.

Yesterday, the necrological service was rendered by some friends and family of Madam Cory. It was full of fun memories worthy to be remembered. They narrated how generous, kind, unselfish leader, friend, and a mother she was. Many were crying including myself. Many people looked up her as the most excellent president of all time. Many Filipinos love her so much, for the democracy that we are enjoying now a day, we owe it to her. Through her, Filipinos united and fought against the dictator, Ferdinand Marcos.

Today, August 5, 2009 is Holiday in Honor of Pres. Corazon Aquino under A Proclamation 1851: The Malacañang expressed profound grief over the loss of former president Corazon Cojuangco Aquino. They had a plan to visit the weak of the former president. However, When Kris Aquino, youngest daughter of the Cory Aquino was asked if the PGMA is welcome to attend the weak. Kris preferred not to answer the question because she doesn’t like that she could say something which is not good.

As of this moment, the solemn burial mass is still going on at Manila Cathedral.  The church was filled with lots of people. Opposition and Administration are being united. Outside the church, commoners are patiently hearing the mass. They didn’t mind the pouring of the rain. Seemingly, the weather is also mourning. Kris’ message is really heart breaking. Me and my husband also cried upon listening to her.

Cory Aquino will be buried beside her husband at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City. The assassination of her husband happened last August 21, 1983. After 26 years and 20 days, Cory joined her husband in heaven.

May you rest in peace.

2010 CANDIDACY: TOO EARLY?

sen-manny-villarThe 2010 election is too far but yet too near for some candidates to air up their candidacy. The senators are like ghost who expresses their presence to the masses in a form of advertisement, flyers and personal appearance to a certain nation’s activity.

One of the senators, who usually wear an orange polo shirt, consistently became number one during the election due to his publicity. I am referring to Sen. Manny Villar. I am one of the millions who voted him because of what I known to his background. He has the passion to the poor people, since he came from a poor family. Nevertheless, last year 2008 one of his advertisements was about helping the OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker). The intension is good. I was impressed of what he did. However, there is question in my mind, why does he need to publicize of what he did to the OFW? Another advertisement he made was about helping certain person who owns duck poultry. Senator Villar stepped on the muddy place with his leather shoes. Realistically, if you are a farmer who steps on a mud, one thing that you need to do is to be in barefooted so you may feel the ground. In this manner, I am sorry to say but he is overacting. Political show!

Way back 2004; I was able to watch certain documentary film in one of the big television stations, wherein they have an expose` about the gimmicks of the candidates. One of presidential candidates help the farmers planted in the rice field and some would uses his wife as a front act in a show. Now, there is an innovations of their publicity, some will use flyers (fan) with their face and names on it, or it could be a streamers, some will roam around with their bodyguards in the midst of the crowd, others will visit the school base as one of the speakers, moreover, others will join certain festival and use his devotion as tool in unconsciously political career. Of all these gimmicks, the most effective yet the most expensive of publicity form is through advertisement in mass media.

Well, in my opinion these are the following senators who started to build certain feelings of candidacy for 2010 election. Who among them will run for President?

1. Senator Manny Villar
2. Senator Manuel Roxas
3. Senator Pia Cayetano
4. Senator Gordon
5. Senator Chiz Escudero
6. Senator Bong Revilla
7. Congressman Miggz Zubiri
8. Congressman Jules Ledesma

If these people have a plan to run a certain position in the public office, don’t you think they were too early for their campaign?

In a recent survey, there are 3 prominent names appeared who are capable to become a president. These are Senator Noli De Castro, Senator Manny Villar (whose appearances in the media affect this survey) and Senator Loren Legarda. However, there are names that race-up for the line recently. These are Senator Mar Roxas (I noticed that their ( Korina Sanchez) relationship will become like a bees if there is an up coming election); Senator Chiz Escudero and Former President Erap Estrada. Talking about the last name appeared in the survey, he was our president way back 1998 to 2001. The same process was made. Popularity is the key to success. If he was not an actor for many decades, he would not being been elected as president.

In fairness to them, they did not file for their candidacy though they could file it before November 30, 2009. Since the Commission on Election Chairman Jose Melwell declared an earlier deadline… Well, we will just wait and see….

Nevertheless, Filipinos should be vigilant enough to scrutinize a caliber president to be. I am hoping that we will decide wisely to the action that we are going to take. We will not just accede and vote a certain person because we are being offered by a house of gold. We have to consider the adverse effects to the erroneous things we will make.

Japan to tourists: Please don’t lick the tuna

Tourists are known for acting silly, but licking the tuna?

Overwhelmed by a growing number of misbehaving tourists, Tokyo fishmongers banned all visitors from one of the city’s most popular tourist destinations — the pre-dawn tuna auctions at the world’s largest seafood market.

The ban, imposed during the peak New Year buying season, was front-page news before it was lifted last week. Now, the tourists are back, but the debate goes on: Can tourists be trusted around the tuna?

“We understand that the sight of hundreds of frozen tuna looks unique and interesting for foreign tourists,” said Yoshiaki Takagi, deputy director of the market. “But they have to understand the Tsukiji market is a professional place, not an amusement park.”

One of the more notorious recent cases was that of a tipsy British tourist — caught on tape by a Japanese TV crew — who licked the head of a frozen tuna and patted its gill. Two others, also caught on video, rode around on a cart used by wholesalers. “Get out! Get out!” an irate market official shouted in English.

“Tuna is a very expensive fish,” Takagi said. “One tuna can easily cost more than 1 million yen ($11,000). But some tourists touch them and even try to hug them.”

Fed up, the market decided to impose the ban.
