Slogged Over Leisures

Outdoor lighting is very necessary to make your family safe.  In some cases like robbery, murder, rape, and other hazardous crimes happen in obscure places.  Reading, hearing and seeing these crimes in most mass media resources could makes us frighten that leads us to be more vigilant in our actions. Keeping the entire house well- lighted is one way to suppress the urge of committing such crimes. People who had dark plan want to stay out in the dark. They were patiently waiting for their targeted victims.

I remembered when I was high school student, we went to our province to attend town’s fiesta. It is also our way to meet other relatives who lived in other places. Partying, drinking and talking were the activities participated by my uncles, aunties, cousins, distant relatives and neighbors. It was late evening when the party was over. Then, we headed to my auntie’s common house to sleep. Most families slept together using a mosquito net. Others were just sleeping using a blanket. I think we were about five families with 3 to 5 members sleeping in the living room. Then, we all fall into a deep sleep. Suddenly, I was awakening by the movement of pulling the mosquito net. I was sleeping at the edge of the net near the stairs. I could not see it clearly who was it since the room was too dark. I kept my eyes closed, laid on the mosquito net so his hands could not touch me then I prayed that I will be protected by this intruder. Alas! one of my uncles turned on the lights, then he headed to the kitchen. With the lights on, I recognized the person who was lying next to me, was my cousin. I didn’t mind it for I thought for he was good person and he was my cousin. I thought it was the other person who did it.  My uncle went back and turned off the lights. After a moment, I noticed there was an intense of pulling and it was him. I gave all my strength not to let him got inside the mosquito net. I was hoping that someone should turn again the lights on so I will stand up and walked away. My prayer was answered. My uncle turned on the lights again. Without a second thought, I stood up and walked away. I wasn’t able to go back to sleep that night. That was a nightmare for me. Since then, I never respect him nor talked to him. I know he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. That is why he didn’t mind if I am his cousin.

I came to realized that a person can do such act if he is under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He would not mind whether you are his relative or not. With the help of lights and my uncle, who turned it on, I was able to escape from danger and above all the powerful tool that protects me that time was my prayer.
